Anatomy refers to the branch of science that deals with the structure of the animals, organisms and human beings. There are various different techniques that are employed under this branch of science. They include dissection and imaging techniques, like ultrasound, X- ray, MRI and CT. As far as the areas of anatomy are concerned, there are 3 basic categories that are studied under this particular branch. |
The first area of anatomy includes gross anatomy, where the structures can be seen with the help of naked eyes. The other area that this branch deals with would involve histology that refers to the microscopic organization of the various tissues within the human body. Now, the final area includes cytology, which is actually the detailed study of the entire structure of cells present within the body. Microscope is common scientific equipment that is used in cytology and histology. Apart from these two major areas of anatomy, comparative anatomy is yet another very important aspect that comes under this field of study.
As far as the modern anatomy is concerned, it is known to make use of various fields and branches of science for exploring and understanding the actual structure of the cells, tissues and organs along with their functions in detail. Human anatomy is one of the major areas of anatomy under this branch of biology. This includes studying various different aspects of the human body involving things like skin, nervous system, circulatory system, and the other major body systems operating within the human body.
