Ancient Roman Architecture

Ancient Roman architecture and ancient Greek architecture are very close to each other. They look highly similar.

However, when one takes a closer look, both actually have a unique style that is distinct and separate. Nonetheless, for sure there has been an influence on each others architecture throughout history. The ancient Romans had a broad view of architecture. They formed complicated designs with their individual signature. They had wealth and they exhibited it vastly in the way they built their homes. They used vaults and arches explicitly, and also exhibited in-depth knowledge of using them. They used materials that the rest of the world did not know of that time to build their buildings.

Ancient Roman architecture has been retained even today from several centuries. It spans over several ages and many archeologists have studied and confirmed that it could have been one of the first or earliest forms of civilization. Some of the architecture of ancient Rome in the 12th century B.C seems to have adopted ancient Greek architecture, and used it in their own style creating a new form of architecture. The introduction of Triclinium is the classic example of how ancient Rome used the styles of ancient Greek architecture. It is a common place for dining actually. The ancient Romans even used hydraulics in ancient times to build arches. The high population perhaps forced the ancient Romans to form newer styles of architecture. The Romans had built villas by the Bronze Age and they even started exhibiting their architectural styles in the common baths. This is one of the classic achievements in ancient Roman architecture.
