Civil engineering deals with construction, designing and building various structures. |
These structures can be buildings, houses, bridges, transportation facilities, and roads. Civil engineering covers the entire infrastructure department. A civil engineer is capable of designing, planning and executing designs that can be built upon. It also involves the study of various building materials. Architecture is also a part of civil engineering. There are many branches within the arena of civil engineering.Architecture is the branch of civil engineering that deals with designing landscapes and also smaller buildings. For example, a person who designs a house and then builds upon the idea is called an architect.
Civil engineering as a broad term defines all the civil engineers who undertake jobs like designing and executing works like construction of bridges and overpasses.
Coastal engineering is the study that covers the engineering concepts of building structures on the coastal area. The landscape at coastal areas is much different and it requires the study of special materials to build on these areas.
Earthquake engineering is a rather new concept where the engineers study how to make a structure stand in case of an earthquake. The first ones to collapse during an earthquake are tall and high rise buildings which cause huge monetary damage and kill many people. Engineers study how to make safer places to live and work during an earthquake.
Municipal or urban engineering studies about how to build structures in urban areas and how to make best use of the less space available.
