Types Of Archaeology

Archaeology is the study and research of history of human life with respect to behavior and culture beginning from the origin till today. The archaeological studies include many scholastic subjects like the art, history, biology, geology and chemistry. The studies related to mixture of human culture with biology are referred as archaeology, which is also deemed as the branch of anthropology.

Archaeology should not be confused with paleontology, which is completely different and deals in studies related to the study of fossils from the past lives of humans. The various types of archaeological studies those are available currently includes:

The archaeological science or archaeometry, known by both names, is branch of archeology that deals in study with the application of modern and scientific methods & techniques. The techniques include the dendrochronology, radiocarbon dating, mathematical methods, artifact analysis, remote sensing, environmental studies and microscopes. The other branch of archaeology is classical archaeology, which studies ancient civilizations and cultures that once existed before, like the Romans and the Greeks. The branch deals in the study and research of almost two years of ancient human civilization, especially the Roman and Greek civilizations.

Ethno-archaeology is the study of linking the past life of human beings with the present. The anthropological study is almost involved in the fundamentals of ethno-archaeology. If we take an example in the modern day farming techniques used for gathering food is altogether different except the basics of farming that was practiced in ancient times and together the present and past share some similar aspects of life.

One more branch of archaeology called as environmental archaeology uses archaeological principles to study environment. The field is very interesting for the students who are more interested in science as it focuses mainly on scientific aspects of the environment such as diatoms, soil, pollens, sediments and many other archeological factors.
