Always keep a specific target audience in mind. If you are going to design something for kids, add a lot of color and be as informal as possible. Include the latest cartoon characters and make the webpage or magazine enjoyable. The pictorial representation should complement the design and layout.

If you are planning to design for businesses and organizations, make the entire page crisp, clear and simple. Less is more here. It is very important to organize the font style. For example, your heading should be bold and clear. The body of the article can be in smaller font to distinguish different parts of the article. Do not place pictures in a haphazard manner. If you are describing something in words, make sure there is a picture right next to your description for the readers to have a quick view. Use contrasting colors to avoid monotony. Place your commas and full stops at the right places. Irrespective of what you create, make sure that every element blends in with the other to create perfect harmony.
