Faux painting a brick wall in your home will definitely add great value to the interiors. The best way to do it is on a small portion of the brick wall first and in the corner of the room. You can also try it around the window frame. When you start with the faux paint, it should look as though the plaster on the wall has come off and it will expose the faux paint on the wall. |
Before you get started with it, draw a rough outline of the portion of the wall where you wish to faux paint. Use a warm paint wash and then paint over this small area. You can use different colors and you will need to swirl the paint on to the wall so that you can build up a texture.
In order to be able to paint, you need a small sponge and the dimensions of the sponge should be the same as the brick. Also, decide before hand as to what kind of brick color you would like to achieve with the brick wall. It could be reddish clay or a terracotta color. For the red terracotta effect, you will need red, brown and an orange color or yellow to create the effect.
Before you get started experiment with different colors and then start. When you have the perfect color, pour the paint on a plastic tray and the tray should be big enough to fit the sponge in. do not full the tray completely. Fill only the required amount so that the sponge will absorb it when dipped. Do not let the paint overflow from the tray. Use newspapers or plastic sheets to avoid a mess.
