A planetary nebula is formed when a star is unable to support its size and forma and starts creating fusion at its center. The gravity that is extended on the star starts affecting it and starts heating up the inner parts of it. The severe condensation and over heating will split the star and drive half of it away into the stellar wind. This kind of process can take place over a thousand years. When the whole process is complete, the remnants glow because of the heat and the distant gases. Such a nebula is called a planetary nebula. |
The source of the nebula is actually a planet and that is why they are called planetary nebula. The sun can create such a nebula in a few billions of years. Some people think that these objects are completely unrelated to the planets. They may also represent as an example of how the sun is a star. Also, there is a rule that the stars have to be twenty times heavier than the sun to form planetary nebulae and how does sun qualify to be one of them. In our galaxy alone the astronomers estimate that there could be nearly ten thousand planetary nebulae.
The planetary nebula emits light in very specific colors and the pictures mostly feature a black and white photo. If you see from a telescope, probably you will notice some colors but even they are very specific. The nebula is always found in blue green and red only.
