Solar System Diagram

The Solar System is made up of nine planets. All of them are arranged in a certain sequence. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and it is very hot. It is the first planet after the sun in the Solar System. The sun is the central star of the Solar System around which all other planets revolve.

Mercury also happens to be the smallest planet of the Solar System. Mercury takes only 88 days to orbit around itself. The next planet in the sequence is the Venus. Venus is very much like Earth, and is also called as the Twin. It is nearly the same size as Earth and has a thicker atmosphere. However, the temperatures on Venus can be very hot according to human standards and it is hot enough to melt lead. Venus unlike any other planet rotates backwards. The Earth is the third planet and also is the only known planet that supports life in the entire Solar System. The planet is located at a comfortable distance form the sun and also is not too hot or cold.

Mars is the fourth planet, and is smaller and also very cold compared to the earth. However, several scientists speculate that life could exist on Mars. Mars has two moons. Ceres is a new discovery but has been termed as a dwarf planet. Jupiter is the fifth planet and is also the largest planet. It is mainly made up of hydrogen and helium which means it can have a very solid core. Saturn is the sixth planet, and it is very cold. It has beautiful city rings surrounding it and the fact is that Saturn has very less mass. It would literally float when you put it in water. Then come Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The tenth planet is benign debated as Eris.

Solar-System-Projects-For-Kids      The best way to explore and learn about the Solar System for the kids is through projects. Just like adults wonder what is in the sky even kids are fascinated with moons and stars. Kids are taught early in school about the Solar System and the nine planets. However, since most of it is theory, it is very difficult to explain how the Solar System looks like for them. More..
