Throughout the centuries there have been several scientists known to mankind. People have always been experimenting with the materials available around them, and that is how some of the greatest inventions known to mankind were made. |
Here are some famous chemistry scientists who have contributed immensely to chemistry through their studies, inventions and discoveries.
Thales of Miletus was a Greek philosopher who lived between 638B.C. and 548 B.C. He developed a theory of matter that was based upon water. He observed the some of the properties of amber and lodestone when they were rubbed together.
We all know Pythagoras, and even today some of us would have learnt the famous theories postulated by him. He lived between 581 B.C. and 497 B.C. He was a Greek philosopher, and also a popular mathematician. He thought that numbers were as basic as matter and Pythagorean Theorem is a popular geometric formula. It was developed based on the atomic theory.
Aristotle is one of the greatest chemistry experts known to the world. He was a Greek philosopher, a teacher and also a scientist. He classified plants and animals and introduced the most common scientific method to do that.
Epicurus found a system that is known as Epicureanism. Though most of his work was lost, it consisted mainly of pleasure and sexual chemistry.
Galileo Galilee was Flemish chemist, and was among the first to identify chemically produced gases. He studied the processes that included combustion and also fermentation. He was the one who coined the term known as "gas".
Isaac Newton was the best known mathematician and scientist from England. He developed the famous theory of matter, and was the first person to identify the VIBGYOR. He observed the color components through a prism and also discovered that we can reconstruct these colors into white light by using a second prism. Although a physicist, Newton's discovery helped chemistry a lot. That is why he has found his way into the list of famous chemistry scientists.
