How To Explain Atom Models For Children ?

Science can be made a fun learning experience if taught in an exciting and fascinating manner. So, if you are wondering how to explain atom models to children, here is some help for you. The first thing that you need to tell children is that an atom is a part of an element. In fact, it is the smallest particle in the element. An element is substance which cannot be broken down any more. Examples of elements are hydrogen, oxygen, gold and iron.

The atom has a central core that is known as a nucleus. This core consists of protons and neutrons. Protons have a charge which is positive, while neutrons are neutral in charge. The core, that is the nucleus, is surrounded by electrons, which are negative in charge. Electrons constantly move around the nucleus in a fast manner. They follow a certain path which is invisible, and these paths are referred to as orbitals.

Once you have given this basic information to children, it might be helpful to reinforce what you have taught them using a diagram. They will understand it much better.

Atoms are particles which cannot be broken down into smaller parts using chemicals. In fact, several atoms together build matter, and that means that matter consists of protons, neutrons and electrons. Since the protons and electrons have opposite charges, they are electrically attracted to each other like the opposite poles of a magnet. So, the number of protons is always equal to the number of electrons in an atom.

This simple explanation can go a long way in explaining atom models to children.

What-Are-Atoms-Composed-Of      Atoms are the most fundamental particles of matter. Atoms combine to form something known as molecules, and molecules, in turn, form all the objects you can see around you. So, What Are Atoms Composed Of ?. Well, atoms are composed of subparticles, which are protons, neutrons and electrons. More..
