Water Molecule Diagram

Water is actually a naturally available chemical compound. Every chemical compound has a chemical structure. The chemical structure is represented by a chemical formula. For instance, the chemical formula of water is H2O. That means that water has two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen in every single water molecule. It also means that water is a combination of oxygen and hydrogen.

Water is one of the compounds that are available everywhere on earth. Earth is made of three parts of water and one part of land. Water can be frozen and it acquires a solid state known as ice. It also evaporates when heated and it is called vapor in the gaseous state. Water starts boiling at 100 degrees centigrade. Water reaches a state of equilibrium in all its three forms, solid, liquid and gas. Water is present everywhere and human, animal and plant life depends on it for its very existence.

Water behaves strangely in different states. Huge bodies of water are called oceans and smaller bodies of water are known as rivers, ponds and lakes. Water is known to be polar in nature. That means the molecules within water can be attracted to each other because of its dipolar state. Water is also an excellent solvent and many chemicals found naturally are solvent in water. It is a colorless and odorless liquid. Water also plays an important role by transporting biological molecules. Acids, salts and alcohol are easily soluble in water. Water is also one of the greatest conductor and generator of electricity.
