How Is The Periodic Table Arranged ?

Periodic table was first made by a Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev. The periodic table exhibits the periodic properties of various chemical elements. There are several chemical elements and it is very difficult to remember all the properties like their formula, weight, properties randomly.

However, when they are put into a form of a table they can be grouped together based on their properties and nature, and it becomes easier for us to remember that way.

The chemicals are arranged in the periodic table based on their atomic weight and the properties of the elements. As the atomic weight increases, their properties also change accordingly. Mendeleev also found that both the physical properties and chemical properties of the elements increased as the atomic weights increased.

He observed sudden and drastic changes in the chemical properties as the weight went up in some chemical elements. The modern periodic tables are arranged as per the atomic number. As the atomic weight of the element changes the atomic number also changes. At the end of each row you will notice a drastic change in the chemical properties for the respective chemical element. The same chemical element exists in various forms and does different things. That is why a chemical periodic table is very helpful in grouping the elements of the same family. Also, the periodic table is divided according to the stability, reactivity and inert natures. For example, all stable gases like oxygen, fluorine and neon are grouped together and non metals that exist in gaseous form are put together.
