Then the 101 numbered elements were named as mendelevium honoring him. Initially the periodic table found as per Mendeleev arranged chemicals asked on their atomic weights. The modern table is arranged as per their atomic numbers.

However, his contribution to chemistry was only recognized some 50 years later when the hundred and first element was named after him. This element was mendelevium.
