History means a record of events that have already happened. The event could have occurred a few days back, few years back, few centuries ago or millions of years ago. The record of events that reveals new information of the time and era that we are not aware of is called history. The knowledge of history is very essential for several reasons. |
Every person should know certain historical facts, be it about architecture, or political scenario of the country, or world wars. History can be related to anything, but learning about the events that took place involved remembering dates. So, by learning historical facts, we are increasing our memory power
History reveals several aspects of the society, and we can always compare the events with the modern society and draw inferences. May be there is something for us to learn. In fact, most things that we know about medicines or vehicles or cooking are by learning history. These have been age old traditions that have been continued from times unknown and are still being used. .
By studying history, we are also evaluating ourselves. For example, when we read about the World Wars, we put ourselves in the perspective of the war times and ask ourselves on how to survive such difficult times. Do we need war in the modern society? History helps us form our own impressions in several ways.
By learning history we also realize about the mistakes that people made earlier, and how we should be careful in not making or repeating the same mistakes.
