Philosophy Of The Ancient Greeks

When it comes to philosophy, the ancient Greeks were the pioneers and the masters of it. There have been several great Greek philosophers like Aristotle, Socrates, Pluto and so on. Also, the ancient Greek civilization came up with several philosophical terms that the modern world uses even today. Before the rest of the world knew, they had already defined complicated things like life, soul, ghost, devil, consciousness, and personality. Their achievement in philosophy has been the greatest among all civilizations existent today in the world.

The ancient Greeks even had an understanding of psyche and also had laid down the basic psychological terms. They had an understanding of how humans should behave and what moral and ethical values should constitute of.

Western psychology has a heavy influence of Greek psychology actually. Even the Chinese and Indians were not far behind when it came to psychology and philosophical knowledge. Many ancient cultures had their own great scholars who contributed to the subject of philosophy tremendously. However, the contribution of the Greeks has always been outstanding. Scholars and philanthropists like Socrates, Aristotle, Pluto and Confucius have been very famous. Western philosophy is also influenced by the Roman philosophy.

Most of the ancient philosophers were also astronomers and had early knowledge of metaphysics and astronomy. Ancient Greeks also had special schools for philosophy and they taught students to think philosophically. Pluto himself was a student of Socrates. The philosophers held a very high position in the king’s court and were in a position to advice great warriors.
