Easy Physics Experiment

One way to make a beginner of physics understand some of the basic principles of physics is by doing experiments. There are some easy physics experiments that children and adults can do using the things that are lying around the house.

So, here are two of easy physics experiments that you can do at home to understand and get excited about the subject.

Charging A Light Bulb:

For this experiment, all you need is a comb and a light bulb. Take the two things into a dark corner of the house. You can use the basement or a closet. Now rub the comb on your hair. If you do not want to use your hair, you can also use a sweater. Immediately after rubbing the comb, bring it in contact with the metallic end of the light bulb. What happens next is pretty amazing. You will see the light bulb coming on in small pulses.

The reason for the light bulb coming on is very simple. By rubbing the comb against your hair, you are making the electrons move from your hair onto the comb. Your body is positively charged as it has more protons than electrons, while the comb is negatively charged as it gains more electrons from your hair. This causes the comb to get charged, and when you touch the comb to the light bulb, the electrons move from the comb into the bulb, and as a result your see small flashes of light.

Making the Pepper Run:

This is an experiment that involves cohesion. Cohesion is the force that is exerted when two objects adhere to each other. We can see cohesion in action when the rain hits a car or when dust sticks to the ceiling fan.

Take a bowl and fill it water. Now sprinkle some pepper corns on the water, and then add some drops of dishwashing detergent into the center of the bowl. What you will see is that the pepper corns tend to move away from the center of the bowl.

When you add detergent into the water, it works by decreasing the cohesion force exerted by the water and pepper corns. However, the cohesiveness has only reduced in the center where the detergent is present. The sides of the water, where there is no detergent, can still exert the force on the pepper corns. So, it appears as if the pepper corns are running away from the detergent.

Importance-Of-Physics-In-Daily-Life      A lot of us think that physics is something that we learn in school as one of our subjects, and several people even hate it. However, physics is something that is applied even in our daily lives, and if we look around, it is present everywhere other than our books. That is why the importance of physics in daily life should not be undermined. More..
