Wrestling is one of the oldest sports known to mankind. It has existed from times unknown in several parts of the world. In ancient cultures like China, India, and Greece this was considered as the main sport. Even the ancient version of Olympic Games in Rome had wrestling matches as one of their games. The first wrestling competition to ever take place was in 708 B.C. |
Wrestling is a game that involves two individuals, and they have to be indulged in a physical combat within a defined space on a mat. The rule of the game is that one wrestler should force the other wrestler’s shoulders to the ground, and the other wrestler should try and resist it. The moment any one falls to the ground, that wrestler loses. The contest is rather short where each round lasts no more than 3 minutes, and also there are just two rounds conducted. The wrestler accumulates points using these two rounds. A referee usually supervises the game and guards against foul play.
In a wrestling competition, the laws of basic physics are involved. You can clearly see one is trying to exert force and the other is trying to resist the force. So, the resistance is in equal and opposite to the force being exerted on one person. When the resistance falls down, the person loses. If the force and resistance decrease at the same level, then no one wins. It is when force or resistance is more than the other, the wrestling match ends in victory.
