Though political science is a recent and rather new field in social studies, its importance in shaping the future and bettering our lives is undisputed. |
With several key figures in the political field being graduates with a degree in political science, this field has taken on great importance in shaping our political future. As such, there is no dearth of jobs for political science graduates. No longer does a major in political science mean that you are destined to be a lawyer. While the law is the most common of jobs for political science majors, in the 21st century, the applications of this field have branched out into several other areas as well. A popular career choice for a political science graduate is joining public relations. Campaign planning for political candidates and advocacy groups is another avenue available (as Karl Rove proved, sending his candidate all the way to the White House). Media consultation, campaigning, PR etc are all viable jobs for political science graduates.
If you do not wish to partake in the more practical side of political science, jobs for political science graduates can also be academic, and framing and testing political theories, conducting research and writing papers, or joining the political science department of universities etc. are also great options. Several great political scientists have framed out policies for countless years, and this trend seems set to continue.
Another option would be to enter the political fray, and become the next President of the United States!
