Psychology is ever trying to understand why babies behave the way they do. You try hard to get your baby to sleep and the moment you put them on their crib and leave the room, they start crying. You try ignoring, but the baby is persistent. Then you run to pick up the baby. Does the baby know how to blackmail you? Or is the baby uncomfortable? No one can actually understand this because we do not know what the baby is thinking. |
However, it is very important, no matter how difficult it is, to understand your baby. Understanding the baby means understanding the psychology of the baby. So, what does every baby want? They want the warmth of their mother, and they like to be cuddled. They like it because it makes them feel secure.
For a baby three things are of utmost importance. One is security; the second hunger satiation; and the third is sleep. They have to get all of them to be happy. They are not obviously hungry and they want to sleep, yet the baby is crying. So, the only thing left is security. Every baby feels secure in the mother’s arms. Try carrying your baby when she or he is crying and let them fall asleep in your arms.
Every baby sees the world in a different way, and in the initial days of birth they only care about their feed, and sleep. However, psychiatrists believe that babies do listen and understand even while sleeping. Baby psychology is the most underdeveloped part of psychology because no one can measure the results.
