When the psychologist is asked by the insurance company, for example, to give a report of the trauma, then the psychologist will have to depend on the forensic evaluation to prove the report. So, forensic evaluation is the data for the psychological treatment. It does not determine whether the treatment is working or not, but is helpful in establishing whether the trauma occurred or not.

Forensic services are always used to evaluate evidences. Forensics is very important to establish certain facts to people for their own good. Some people refuse psychological analysis, and to prove that they have problems, forensic evidence becomes evident. Also, in accident, murder and trauma cases, forensic evidence can actually help the court give the right judgment in the case.

Forensic psychology is used to resolve cases related to the family court like divorce cases, emotional or sexual harassment cases, domestic violence and many more. It is also used by traffic courts for accidents and trauma cases. Some of the case profiles where it is likely to be used are child custody, to evaluate risks of visitation, termination of parental rights, anger management cases, violence, stress related behavior, depression, phobias, desensitization and counseling.
