It is very difficult to pinpoint the exact timeline when the psychology or the study of it started. However, it has existed for long enough, and can be dated back to the early beginning of civilization. As long as there has been a social environment, there has been some kind of psychology.

Psychology today can study various aspects from right before birth until death of a human being. Right from baby behavior or fetus behavior to an old and dying man's behavior, everything can be evaluated by psychology. The study of psychology has been extremely beneficial for man from times unknown. Right from the beginning, psychology has only dealt with questions. Eventually over a period of time some of them have been answered and some are still unanswered.  

It was during the mid 1800s that psychologists started coming out in the open and discussing the science. The first person to do it was a German psychologist called Wilhelm Wundt. He outlined several principles of psychology, and also declared it as a subject in the University of Leipzig, and established a psychology lab. With so many advancements, by the mid-century there were several more psychologists evolving in various other countries like France and United States.
