Divorce has become one of the most common things in the society that we live in today. Nearly 49 percent of the women who get married are divorced in the current day statistics. Couples that stay together are very hard to come by and statistics show that nearly 82 percent of the married couples will stay until their 5th wedding anniversary, and only 52 percent of the couples that get married celebrate fifteen years of their marriage. In addition, divorce proceedings usually take nearly one year to complete. It is not easy for divorced couples either. There are different reasons why couples head for divorce and one of them off late has been recession. When a single person has to handle the household and the pressures, then couples tend to drift apart.

Also, the divorce rate in the west is much higher than any other part of the world. In more orthodox countries, the divorce rate is lower. Also, people respect the society and the strata and that is why divorce is not that common in such countries. For example, in India, Pakistan and other developing countries, the divorce rate is lower. However, the comparative scales are not comparable. For example, in these countries is the poverty rate is much higher and even though couples do not live together they will never file for an official divorce. The statistic rate may be skewed by a large percentage. In the United States, it is much more organized society and everything has to be done legally.
